World Championship Race – Medellin, Colombia
Guest post by Sebastian Colon
The event had over 2000 riders from 40 different countries and I met riders from all over the world. In summary just an amazing racing experience that I will never forget. The city of Medellin is very nice, friendly people and the food was great.
My racing class (13 Boys) had 93 riders, 9 of them from Team USA. I’m very happy with my performance. I had to race 2 qualification races in order to continue racing. I placed 2nd in the qualification group, 3rd in the 1/8 finals but, crashed in the quarterfinals sitting in 3rd place.
After the crash I was not able to continue racing and at that point my world championship run was over. I was very disappointed because I wanted to race the main event but, that’s racing.
Next year the BMX World Championship will be in Rock Hill, SC. For the first time in more than fifteen years, the World Championships are coming to the USA.
